The Beginning

These pages deal with Clever Dog
Racing's second race bike, the CD-2. It began life as the 1973 Honda CB175 K7 shown here.
The goal was to turn this bike into a race bike worthy of the Clever Dog name and of the vintage 200GP class in the USCRA. |

And there ya go.... done.
Well, wasn't quite as easy as that... and it's still not done. Here we see the bike before it has ever raced. It's stripped of the street gear, cleaned, painted, modified and lightened. At this point the motor work has been done and the bike test run. The new 35mm CB500/4 front forks added, the Suzuki T-500 DLS brake and alloy rim laced up. The Predator 2-1 Stainless exhaust installed. S&W rear shocks installed, alloy sprockets, clip-on bars etc. Lookin good but still not ready to race. |

Closer to race trim, faring installed, numbers on, catch tanks, safety wire etc. Parked next to the famous CD-1a at the moment. |

Last picture of the CD2 before it became the CD2a. Here we see it still has the vertical style frame and engine. |
