NHIS Aug 2001 Race 4 MOVIE OF MARY WINNING AT NHIS (1.4 meg MPEG)

Mary on the grid at NHIS. Note that she is in Pole Position, earned by her victory in the heat race. Would the bike run well when pushed to the limit? The Rev Limiter was adjusted to allow 14k rpm for this race. We decided to win, or destroy the motor trying. Actually we were not in much suspense because the bike ran extremely well in the heat race, allowing Mary to take first place by half a lap! |

Photo takin from the inside of Turn 3 during the race. Mary's riding was excellent for this race, very smooth and in control. It would have been nice to show other bikes in the photo.....but none were close enough! |

Mary celebrating with "Monk" a
friend, USCRA member, and pit crew for one of the larger bikes. There was much excitement
about the victory, Mary is now in the points lead for the championship. The bike performed
so well it's hard to believe, we will be making no changes to the bike at all except maybe
dropping the carb needle one notch. The new tires, shocks and suspension modifications have worked extremely well, the bike handles beautifully and allows Mary to concentrate on her riding. The power we are making now is the best I have ever seen from this motor. It pulls very very hard up hills and out of corners yet still has a very good top speed. Right now our only limitation is RPM, if we could turn the motor another 1k rpm I think we could take another 1 second off our lap time. Speaking of lap times, Mary now has the Supervintage Class lap record at NHIS at:1:57.90. |
