2002 Race 1  Loudon NH, 5/24/02

Mary managed a second place finish behind the fast Suzuki 2 stroke of Phil (the Bullet) Turkington. Mary was somewhat apprehensive this being her first race of the year so she took it rather easy and just got to know the track again. Still, on our best day I don't think the CD-1a could beat Phi's Suzuki. There are improvements to be made for sure, I am confident we can cut several seconds off our laps times with further tuning and more practice for our pilot.
The bike is showing good top end speed and strong pull up the hills. The handling seems good but perhaps we can use more compression damping in the front forks. Mary is working hard on her starting technique, this has been a weak point in the last couple of years, with a good start the CD-1a can almost always beat everyone to the first turn.
As it stands now we have 3 points towards the 2002 championship with only one rider ahead of us in points. This season will be a season of tuning rather than big changes. We will be perfecting the parts we have already installed and working on Mary's riding skills.

I'll try to have some pictures up soon
