Race 2  Gunstock/Loudon NH 6/9/02

Overall I am extremely happy with the way the CD-1 is running and the way Mary is riding. We are making the
best power we have to date. Top end power is very good and mid-range has not suffered. There is still a small
issue with fuel mixture at full throttle but we are getting very close to the perfect setup. The Rev-Limiter has
been disconnected for now as it seems the motor wants to run up to around 13k rpm and the Limiter was
trying to hold it to 12k rpm. We are not reaching max rpm in 4th gear so soon that we must change our gearing
to allow for a higher top speed. At the Loudon (NHIS) race Mary ran a remarkable 1:54.8, fully five seconds faster
than her previous best lap time. I still think with our planned changes that she can shave off another 2 seconds.
The motor seems to be holding up well, after this long weekend of racing I will be examining the motor for signs
of damage or wear. As we lean out the fuel mixture the motor is making more power but is running hotter. I will
be modifying the fairing for more air flow across the motor and may consider the installation of an oil cooler.

As of now the CD-1 is in second place in the Championship. With some luck we might be able to manage to
win the Championship for a second year in a row.

Bike was running well using a 92 main jet. Still a little rich at full throttle. Mid range power is excellent. Mary finished third overall behind a fast 50cc Suzuki 2 stroke and a 80cc Modern Derbi 2 stroke.

Motor was making excellent power and pulling very hard in the mid range. She finished second behind our fast Suzuki rival but she was pacing him the entire race and losing no ground. We will be dropping one tooth on the rear sprocket to gain some speed in high gear. I plan to drop the main jet to a #88 for the next race in August. With these changes I think the bike may be the fastest in the class. Mary ran a 1:54.8  at NHIS only a few seconds slower than I run on the CD-2 175!

Me, leading the pack into turn three at Loudon NH. #9 is about to pass me on the inside, after which he will be long gone. I finished fourth. Bike is down on power and is still too heavy. Big changes on the way for the August race.
