8/10/98 I will have some new progress photos here in the near future but for now I will bring you up to speed on the project. It is getting close to one year since I started this project and at present I am about three months over my original estimates, which doesn't surprise me considering I have never built a bike like this before. I had planned on keeping track of expenditures as I went along but that went by the wayside as I found it time consuming enough just updating the technical aspects. The bike appears to be about one month from completion. At present I am waiting to get the cylinder head back from the shop where it is receiving a valve job and two new valves. I have yet to decide on a fuel tank and still have to fit the fairing and fabricate the fairing mounts. After the bike is in running condition I will have to do some shake down runs on it to check for problems then disassemble the whole bike for painting. Next will come time to reassemble and do the lockwiring. Tentative color scheme is a red frame with blue fairing. I yearn for the day that the bike is a dependable runner so that modifications and improvements can start, that will be the fun part of the project. |
