Fuel Tank

This is a fuel tank from an early
70's Honda CT70. It's plastic, has a couple of fuel pipes, a nice screw on cap and weighs
all of about 8 oz. I found this one on E-Bay for $8. It's about four pounds lighter than
my home made fiberglass tank... and it doesn't leak. This view is from the bottom to show how I strapped it to an aluminum cover I made. I have no idea why the tank has two outlets, just make sure you use the bottom one. |

Here is how the tank looks mounted to the frame. I cut a hole for the cap to stick through, used some nice stainless socket head bolts with nyloc nuts to secure the straps. I will drill a hole in each corner and use nylon zip ties to fasten it to the frame. Not seen here, but under the aluminum cover I cut pieces of rubber hose to fit over the frame tubes where the tank mounts, this keeps it from scratching the paint and also prevents vibration and noise. The cover will be painted to match the bike when it's done. |
