Race One
Race meet number one this year consisted of the "demostration" race at the old Belknap track in NH, followed the next day by racing for real at Loudon NH (NHIS).
Overall the bike ran just beautifully. The new exhaust seems to help mid range a bit, not more power I don't think, but a larger range of rpm that produces power. Mary's riding was stellar, the best I've seen so far. The engine still has a misfire at around 12,500 rpm. I've tried numerous things to help this, but nothing I've done has worked. I'm beginning to think we are "floating" our oversize intake valve. It is larger and somewhat heavier than a stock valve so I think the camshaft and springs that were designed to operate a slightly lighter valve may be allowing this valve to float at high rpms.

Mary getting the checkers at Belknap. She finished second. But this race wasn't for points, it's mostly a re-inactment of the road races held there in the 50' and early 60's. I asked her to take it easy as it was a very rough track and quite dangerous in my opinion. |

This Mary returning to the pits
after the race, she's smiling because there is a big crowd of people cheering for her up
on the hill to her left. She is usually the crowd favorite....and my favorite too. |
